Far East Federal University

      In 1899 the Eastern Institute was established. In 1920, it was joined by several private educational institutions becoming the Far East State University (FESU). It included three departments: the Eastern Faculty, the Faculty of History and Philology, and the Faculty of Social Sciences. In 1956, FESU was renamed as the Far Eastern National University. In 1960-2010 FENU witnessed a period of rapid internationalization and transformation into one of the best universities in Russia. Nowadays the University scholars conduct research in such fields of science as nanotechnologies, submersible robotics, and energy effectiveness.
