Magnitogorsk State Technical University

     The University was formed from branches of Ural higher educational institutions which existed in Magnitogorsk in 1932. However, its official date of birth is 1934, when the Magnitogorsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy opened its doors to train engineers for the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) and, later on, for the South Ural region.
     Today the Magnitigitsk State Technocal University offers about 300 higher education, secondary vocational and extended education programs to over 25 000 students. The faculty staff consists of about 900 lecturers including over 450 PhDs and 80 ScDs. It provides a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's, Specialist's, postgraduate and doctorate degree programs. Students and teaching staff at NMSTU are involved in a variety of research activities. The R&D centre of innovations and technology at the University comprises 14 scientific schools and approximately 20 scientific laboratories, the Nanosteels Research Institute, the Innovation Business Incubator and the Youth Research Centre.
     The University has cooperation agreements with 35 partner universities from 60 countries across the world.
     The campus includes well-equipped dormitories, a health centre, providing a wide range of health care services to all employees and students, a recreation centre and sport facilities offering opportunities for sports instruction and training.
