Tomsk State University

     Tomsk State University is the oldest university in Siberia that was founded in 1878 in Tomsk, Russia. It was the First Siberian Imperial University. In 1944 - 1955, the TSU was one of the leading research centers in the development of new defense systems and in the scientific substantiation of the global economic and agricultural projects. In 2010 TSU was awarded the status of a National Research university. Since 2014, the University has been in the top 500 in the overall QS World University rankings and in the top 50 of the QS WU Rankings: BRICS.
     The priority aim of the University is to educate broad-minded, cultured individuals capable of independent scientific and philosophical accomplishments. University staff are actively developing modern approaches and techniques in all areas of activity, remaining faithful to the traditions of their predecessors and enhancing the University’s status in the contemporary Russian and international scientific and educational environment.
     Tomsk State University is aimed at preserving and enhancing spiritual values of the humanity in the production and dissemination of progressive knowledge and information, and in the advanced training of the intellectual leaders of society based on integration of the educational process with fundamental scientific research and innovative approaches.
     Nowadays there are 23 departments, 135 specialties in various fields, which train more than 23 thousand students.
