Jawaharlal Nehru University
Jawaharlal Nehru University was established in 1969. It was named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. JNU has earned a reputation as one of the leading universities in India. JNU focuses especially on postgraduate education. Nowadays the University has over 7300 students, who come from all parts of the country and abroad, and from all sections of society.
The University consists of 10 main schools and 4 special centers:

- School of Language Literature and Culture Studies

The university claims to nurture the free, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research at all of its ten schools and four special centers. Several Centres in these Schools (Centre for Historical Studies, Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Centre for Political Studies, Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Centre for the Study of Regional Development, all in the School of Social Sciences) have been declared by the UGC to be Centres of Excellence.
